A Noise Downstairs By Linwood Barclay

Book Review

An avid reader of Linwood Barclay’s books I rushed out on publication day to buy my copy. Later that month I managed to attend an interview which he gave at a Waterstones and got my copy signed!!! Result!

Book Description

Paul Davis forgets things – he gets confused, he has sudden panic attacks. But he wasn’t always like this.

Eight months ago, Paul found two dead bodies in the back of a co-worker’s car. He was attacked, left for dead, and has been slowly recovering ever since. His wife tries her best but fears the worst…

Therapy helps during the days, but at night he hears things – impossible things – that no one else can. That nobody else believes. Either he’s losing his mind – or someone wants him to think he is.

Just because he’s paranoid doesn’t mean it’s not happening…

I got hooked in straight away, something these books are always good at. It gets straight into the story whist still introducing characters and past events at the same time.

Likeable characters, with that great sense of small town America.

It was fast paced with great dialogue and kept you turning the page to find out what happens next . Indeed Mr Barclay said he likes to end his chapters like TV drama ends their episodes, on a bit of a cliff hanger so you want to tune in next time to find out what happens.

Twists on Twists on Twists! The ending was fantastic! You think you might have guessed it??? Oh no!!!

Another good story and greatly enjoyed reading. Would recommend.
